What You Need to Know When Choosing an Arizona Auto Insurance Policy

Everyone that operates a vehicle in an Arizona is required by state law to have an Arizona auto insurance policy in place. The state of Arizona sets certain minimum requirements that each AZ car insurance policy must meet.

Arizona state minimum auto insurance requirements are as follows:

  • $15,000 Bodily Injury Liability per person
  • $30,000 Bodily Injury Liability per accident
  • $10,000 Property Damage Liability

Bodily Injury Liability covers other people’s injuries in an accident that you cause. Property Damage Liability covers damages to someone else’s car in an accident that you cause.
Keep in mind that these are just the absolute minimum requirements that your policy must meet. Depending on your situation, you may find that you need more insurance than this to meet your needs.

Some other types of coverage include the following:

Comprehensive coverage: Comprehensive Coverage will cover damages to your vehicle that are not related to a car accident such as fire, theft, or vandalism. This is not required by any state. However, it may be required by your lender if your car is being financed.

Collision Coverage: Collision Coverage will cover damages to your car if you are in an accident where you are considered to be the at fault driver. This also may be required by your lender if your car is being financed.

Personal Injury Protection: Personal Injury Protection covers any medical, hospital or funeral expenses of you, your passengers or pedestrians depending on the amount of coverage.

Uninsured/ Underinsured Motorist Coverage: This coverage protects you in the event of an accident where you are not at fault, but the at fault driver does not have insurance.
